Drinking water might be at risk for contamination under a proposal to build a hot asphalt batch plant next to the Calaveras River just below New Hogan Dam, according to two separate appeals filed last week.

“An asphalt plant involves petrochemical manufacturing or processing,” said the letter by Sacramento attorney Andrew Grundman, who represents MyValleySprings.com.
